Corn Basic care

Set your corn plant in an area of your house that receives bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight shining through a window might burn the leaves or increase UV radiation, interfering with photosynthesis. Use warm water to water the plant every other day, keeping the soil constantly moist. In winter months, water needs might increase, due to the use of heaters that increase dryness in a house. The roots lie close to the woody stem; make sure the bulk of water is deposited at the base of the stalks.
Corn plant leaf sprouts grow directly from the woody stalks. In a house, dust has a tendency to settle on the leaves. Wipe the leaves weekly with a damp cloth, removing dust and debris from the foliage. Mist the leaves weekly to provide added moisture to the canopy.
A corn plant will rarely flower; flowers only occur on plants that have reached a mature height of 7 feet, which most houseplants rarely reach. A mature plant may only flower twice in its lifetime. No special care is required for the blooms.
